Truth About Discouragement

Discouragement

12 Steps to Overcome Discouragement

1. Remove All Guilt

Relieve yourself from past and present guilt & bad feelings about
yourself

2. Take Up The Shield Of Faith

“…take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one”   Ephesians 6:16

3. Encourage Your Heart In The Lord

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up”  Galatians 6:9

Don’t loose heart.  Let the Holy Spirit communicate to your soul.

4. Establish A Place To Be Alone With God

Have quiet times with God in a quiet place. Make this your place with God.

5. Remove Yourself From Fearful People

Avoid people who are always afraid, angry, and paranoid  – especially during your discouragement

6. Read Stories Of Other Great Christians

Everyone experiences some form of discouragement.
Overcoming it is essential.

7. Avoid Making Major Decisions When You Are Discouraged.

“Don’t doubt in darkness what you know in the light to be true”

8. Overcome The Pride Of Not Telling People Around You.

For others to pray for and console us, they need to know our troubles.

9. Focus On God’s Reputation Instead Of Your Own

The Lord is always there, and will always be there. His reputation is flawless.

10. Focus On Your Position With Christ.

We are in Christ, and He is in us. Our position in Christ is priceless.

“What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We died to sin, how can we live in it any longer? Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. If we have been united with him like this in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in his resurrection. For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin – because anyone who has died has been freed from sin. Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God. In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.”
Romans 6:1-11

(on the above, plug in discouragement or any other sin anywhere “sin” is)

11. Focus On God’s Blessings

Make praises to God out loud. Repeat scriptures.
Sing hymns & worship him.
- This defeats Satan’s power
